The history of the school
Panoramic beauty of the soothing environment of rear flora and fauna, and the green foliage of these tall trees give shelter to the scorching rays of sun and leads the way to Sapugaskanda Maha Vidyalaya; making all who enter pleasurable and happy. This 1-AB school proudly faces the Colombo Udupila road with an incomparable proud history since C. W.W. Kannangara era.
The birth of this school was in 1952 and situated at Biyagama division in Kelaniya zone of western province. It claims 7.5 acers with an attractive landscape consisting many valuable aurwedhic medicinal trees. It was named “Senior English School” at the beginning with 85 students and 10 academic staff. Since then, the former principles were Mr. M.D.Buddhadasa, Mr.D.C.Gampala, Mr.P. A.A Pereira, Mr.M.L.T.Perera, Mr.R.T.Direx, Mr.D.R.Athalage, Mr.W.A.Karunasekara, Mr.K.D.S.Edirisingha, Mr. K.Vimalasena, Mr. S.A.S. Perera, Mr.K.G. Pushpakumara, Mr. T.M. Gunasingha, Ms. Himali Rajakaruna, Mr. Kumarasingha, Mr. Gunasekara, Mr. L.S. Jayathilaka. Mr. M. Dahanayaka, and the present principal Mr. G.A.H.C. Gangabodaarachchi are appreciated honorably.
